Getting To Our Cruise

There are some great perks to being a travel agent. One of those perks is a free graduation cruise with Princess if you complete their training to Commodore - which I Have. I’ve been saving this cruise for a European destination but sometimes it’s not the destination that’s important, it’s the timing. My hubby and I have had a lot of difficulties already this year and we needed a re-set. So, we I cashed in my cruise, we blew all of our airline miles and a week later we are in Fort Lauderdale getting ready to go on a Panama Canal cruise.

One stumbling block we encountered was booking our flights with miles. United didn’t have flights to FLL using miles so we had to fly into Miami and we had to fly in a day early. When I book clients on this type if trip, I have them arrive the day of the cruise and a Princess transfer picks them up at the airport and drops them off at the ship. It’s simple and convenient. Since we couldn’t do this we rented a car from Budget in Miami, spent the night in Fort Lauderdale, dropped off the car to the local office and their van dropped us off at the ship. When it is time to return, Budget will pick us up at the pier and we will drop the car off in Miami. Easy! That’s when you realize that you have chosen the road less traveled. You are on your dream adventure. You made it happen! No photographs are needed because you will carry this memory with you for the rest of your life.

My New Shirt Designs

Sometimes you need a creative outlet. A physical place to put the things rattling around in your head. While I am not good at the mechanics of graphic artistry my husband is, and fortunately for me he is willing to be my conduit from brain to imagery. So often our creativity stays hidden in a drawer or flash drive and nothing comes of it - at least that is the case for me. Not this time, this weekend I opened a CafePress store and I already have three shirt designs up! I’m very excited!

My husband and I are traveling together for the first time in a long time. I forgot how different our travel styles are. My hubby likes to get to the airport early so he has no stress getting to his gate and I arrive at the last possible moment and have to run to my gate. Granted, his plan ahead and leave plenty of time for error mode of travel is smarter, less stressful and exactly what I advise my clients to do - I just haven’t adopted this style of travel yet. When we travel together I’m forced into time schedules and clock watching. I conform but I drag my feet and grumble a lot. On this early morning flight we arrived two hours early and had time for a sit down breakfast. It was nice! Nice enough for me to continue the less stress airport run on my own? Probably not.
